Kamakhya is famous for the mystical event during the summer solstice, when the land’s waters literally turn red, symbolizing the goddess’s bleeding. This is seen as a divine manifestation of her powerful presence.

The worship of Kamakhya includes the Yoginis, and she is deeply connected with the Yogini Tantra. In this system, Kamakhya is associated with the goddess Kali and her 10 forms or “Mahavidyas,” which form the foundation of Tantric teachings and practices, especially those studied and practiced at our School.

The soil mixes with the water of the natural springs as monsoons moisten the yoni of the great Goddess.

Kamakhya is situated in mountains where large deposits of Cinnabar (mercury) add to the deep magikal manifestation of the divine that is happening at this time of year .
