Kali, The goddess of yogic transformation
From her all the other 9 tantric Mahavidyas are born.
Kali means time. spiritual heart .
She reveals the ultimate truth of time, which is a matrix , a vortex, a non linear conscious energy born out of no time.
She is The breath, blood ,bones atoms ,cells , Marrow, plasma , Semen .
She is cosmic spirit in motion through her dimensionless umbilical cord.
By eating her own children after time is devoured she returns them to wholeness and delight
Through Kali we are able to create and destroy the entire universe at will with bliss , passion and orgasmic revelation.

She teaches us the dance of spiritual death and death of the separate self, which is the way to eternal life and immortality.
She is Nirvana
She is Wind (Vayu).
She is transformative lightning, the electrical force that manifest in the atmosphere.
It acts quickly and unpredictably leaving no trace yet catalyzes the most radical change .
She grants lightning like illumination and transformation.
She is our breath, our prana, life-giving sustenance.
Her fierce action is bliss for yogic transformation.
Kal means to put in motion, and also beauty.
Divine beauty is terror as it pales the beauty of Mundane mortal life

She reveals the nature of the ultimate reality and symbolizes fully awaken consciousness .
As she dances on the corpse of Shiva in his divine bliss, she also dominates him, enticing him into motion and takes the dominant role in sexual creation.

She who dwells in an ocean of semen.
Grants us Insights, freedom, liberation, and fearlessness .
Her sticking out long tongue symbolizes Sexual uninhibited gratification and her ability to eat and transform demonic energies.
She is Wild and bloodthirsty but she gives blood through our veins and gives our blood It’s zest and energy of life .
The only goddess who could defeat the supernatural demons, drink their blood, and transmute it in her drunken frenzy , protecting her innocent children and devotees.
She can consume the forbidden and polluted to make purity.
Her tongue also represents the act of tasting and enjoying what society regards as forbidden ,inauspicious or unrefined , it’s her indiscriminate enjoyment of all of the worlds flavors.

She went on a slaying rampage, Shiva , to calm her down, laid on the ground and as she accidentally stepped over him.
Shivas Lingam became erect and entered her.
This calmed her rage and balanced the soma (moon water)and agni (fire) of creation.
She deconstructs the confides of limited ego centered concepts and invites her devotees to be open to the radical expansion of free thinking.
To Dare to taste the world in it’s most forbidden and “dark” manifestations in order to detect the underlying unity and sacredness that is the great goddess herself.

She wears the wild matted, unbound, wild hair which in India is usually only worn by women who are menstruating , after childbirth, after having sex or when their husband dies.

Brahma (creator) asked Shiva to stop the destruction so he laid before her. She stopped the destruction as to not kill Shiva . Shiva asked her to re-create the destroyed part of the world so she vomited it out.
She had swallowed the whole world which is also why her tongue is revealed.
Worship of Kali overcomes death.
She represents the inherent, creative and destructive rhythms of the cosmos.
Her right hand, grants boons and presents fearlessness, while her left represents the destructive from which new creation again begins. Her three eyes represent the sun, moon and fire, through which she is able to observe the three modes of time (past present and future).
The severed heads and bloody sword symbolize the destruction of ignorance and the dawning of knowledge .
The sword that cuts ignorance and destroys false consciousness.
The bloody head also signifies the outflow of passionate proclivities, which purifies to a spiritual or Sattvic (peaceful) awakening to the truth.
Her nakedness symbolizes she is beyond name, form and beyond all illusionary effects of Maya.
She is the bright passion fire of truth she cannot be hidden by the clothes of ignorance.
The cremation ground symbolizes the dissolution of the five elements, and the dissolving of attachments such as anger, lust and other binding emotions, feelings, and ideas that may dim the light of her devotees.
Her fire Burns them away.
The spiritual heart is where Kali dwells .
She’s slays the ego through her fire of wisdom, freeing her devoted from all worldly cares.
The reverse sexual position in which she stands on Shiva symbolizes, meditative involution were we go back to original bliss union.
Her sexual Yoga and meditation going against the stream , reverses the creative process to Renew it.
The reversal of male and female roles , like inside the body , turns semen to cooling and blood to fiery.
Her garland of severed heads represents the sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet and it’s essence of reality manifest in sound .

Her skirt of arms represents the destruction of karma’s .
Arms symbolize deeds ,actions and the binding effects of karma.
Her devotees are blessed with freedom from the cycles.
The thousand headed cosmic serpent, Ananta ,above her head, symbolizes her cosmic supremacy and primordial power.
Serpents possess mystic wisdom and transformation.
They pierce different cosmic zones of the earth and the underworld as well as the celestial spheres.
They move in the worlds beyond the veil , between states of being between the realms of living and the dead.
This represents her transformative nature and power.
Her intoxication with blood and sometimes wine symbolizes altered states of consciousness and liberation, in where the restrictions and limitation of convention are overcome.
For tantrism she is the goddess of rituals and meditative techniques that seek , confront and overcome forbidden feared “polluting” realities, granting liberation, freedom from subservience and conventionality and powerful sexuality.
Because of her wild , bewitching and sometimes fearful appearance, her real meaning is not obvious to the uninitiated.
She reveals herself only to imaginative and spiritually sensitive devotees.
